LAHORE, Pakistan: In line of preparation for the 2018 General Election, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has launched a comprehensive voter education training for its officers in all the four provinces of Pakistan.
The training sessions for Punjab were inaugurated by Election Commissioner Punjab Masood Ahmed Malik and Additional Director General (Training & Gender Affairs) Nighat Siddique from ECP Islamabad at a local hotel on Saturday.
The voter education training will be imparted to nine Regional Election Commissioners, 43 District Election Commissioners and 40 Election Officers posted in Punjab.
The purpose of this training is to equip the officers of Election Commission with modern ideas, voter education tools and activities to be carried out for awareness campaign for General Election 2018.
The speakers, at the inaugural session, informed the participants that the training was part of comprehensive voter education plan for General Election 2018 in line with goal of the 5 Years’ Strategic Plan 2014-2018 which would enhance the capacity of ECP officers to adopt and execute the awareness strategies suitable to the varied demographics settings throughout the Punjab.
The ECP has already constituted the District Voter Education Committees in all districts of Punjab which consists of District Election Commissioner as Chairman and members from district administration, media, CSOs, Education and Health Departments.
The committee will be responsible to carry out regular voter education activities in its respective district.
