NewsNews item regarding Chief Justice's remarks termed misleading

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Reference to a misleading and concocted news item regarding remarks attributed to Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali during the hearing of Orange Line Train Project case on 13.10.2016, published in the section of media on Friday under caption “monocracy exist in this country in the name of democracy but it is for the people who voted the rulers to power to stand up against them.”

“The news item gives the impression as if the Honorable Chief Justice of Pakistan is inciting people against the rulers of Pakistan,” a news release of Supreme Court here stated.

“Therefore, it is clarified that the news item as reported that people should stand up against the rulers is totally false, baseless and misleading.

In fact, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan had remarked, people should carefully assess the situation and prudently use their right to vote while electing their representatives.

“Moreover, it is required that the media should exercise caution instead of creating sensationalism through their reporting in the media which distort the actual facts.”cuuadxrxyaertba
