PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra here Wednesday said that majority have accepted the proposal of the merger of Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (FATA) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying FATA reforms would be implemented gradually in tribal areas.
The Governor said return process of temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) would be completed by end of this year.
The Governor expressed these views while addressing the participants of the National Management College of 20th Senior Management Wing that called on him here at Governor House Peshawar. Additional Secretary FATA Fida Wazir also present and briefed the participants about Fata.
In response to questions, the governor said he personally met all stakeholders and people of every walk of life of all the tribal agencies and frontier regions in connection with FATA reforms on the directives of Prime Minister and reviewed their opinions. Majority have supported the proposal of FATA merger in KPK, he said.
For implementation of development projects in FATA, he said a comprehensive and active mechanism has been put in place to ensure its timely completion and quality.
