ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Director General of Pakistan’s premier spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar met Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Thursday morning.
During the meeting, the director general ISI briefed the prime minister on matters relating to national security.
If not the last, it was one of final face offs with the prime minister by Lt General Rizwan Akhtar as the Chief of ISI as he soon will be replaced by the current Corps Commander Karachi Lt General Naveed Mukhtar for the post.
Earlier this month, the military leadership made a series of high level postings and promotions among them was also the posting of Lt General Rizwan Akhtar as the President of National Defence University (NDU), Islamabad.
Even on Wednesday more high-ranked postings took place as Major General Muhammad Saeed was appointed as Director General Pakistan Rangers Sindh while Major General Nadeem Anjum was appointed as Inspector General Frontier Corps (FC) in Balochistan.
Both Muhammad Saeed and Nadeem Anjum were promoted to the rank of Major General from Brigadier in January 2016.
