ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Advisor to the Prime Minister on National History and Literary Heritage Irfan Siddiqui on Tuesday inaugurated National Press Club Library at the NPC in Islamabad.

While speaking on the occasion, Irfan Siddiqui said that he appreciated leadership of the National Press Club (NPC) for this initiative of launching a library.

“I appreciate administration of National Press Club for establishing the library,” the advisor said.

Iran Siddiqui said that library was very important for journalists, adding that relation of a journalist with books was like relationship between heart and blood. He said that he himself was a journalist and would like to stay a part of journalist community.

The advisor further said that the beauty of library was that people come and read books. However, he was of the view that people were now forgetting habit of book reading.

“This is a great tragedy of our nation,” Irfan Siddique added.

On the occasion, Iran Siddiqui also announced donation of 600 personal books to National Press Club Library.

Furthermore, he announced that the National Book Foundation (NBF) would provide more books to the Press Club while in addition, membership of NBF would be given to all working journalists.

Earlier upon his arrival at the National Press Club, Irfan Siddiqui was received by the NPC President Shakeel Anjum, Afzal Butt, librarian of NPC Jamil, Amir Butt, Tariq Chaudhry, Agha Iqrar Haroon, Sauce Sahir, Ishaq Chaudhry and other senior journalists.
