LARKANA, Pakistan: As Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) marks the 9th death anniversary of assassinated Chairperson and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto on Tuesday, political circles also awaits what the PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari announces today at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh following the end of deadline to the federal government over its four demands.
The PPP had set December 27 as deadline for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led federal government to full-fill its four demands which related to Panama bill, China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), national security and foreign minister’ appointment.
However, no progress was witnessed from the government as yet and now the PPP Co-Chairman was believed to announce the future course of action today at Garhi Khuda Bukhsh in Larkana where the Party was organizing a large public gathering to mark Benazir Bhutto’s 9th death anniversary.
A Public Holiday was also being observed throughout Sindh today as per announcement by the provincial government.
The former President and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari returned to Pakistan on December 23 after a self-imposed exile of 18 months in Dubai, and though while addressing workers and supporters upon his return, he said the PPP would not let the democracy be derailed as it “believes in democratic struggle.”
But according to political circles, Asif Ali Zardari was trying to form a grand opposition alliance against the PML-N government, and for this purpose, he had already met leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and also contacted Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Sirajul Haq.
Meanwhile, the PPP had finalized arrangements to observe the death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh.
The Chairman of PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah and Central leaders of PPP at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh would address the public gathering as per programme.
A number of PPP leaders and workers had already reached Garhi Khuda Baksh where separate camps had been set-up to accommodate the leaders and workers from all the four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan, Northern areas and Azad Kashmir.
A documentary, depicting life and achievements of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto would also be shown on the occasion. Likewise, a Mushaira was also scheduled in front of mausoleum of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
