LAHORE, Pakistan: Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Monday said the Punjab Agriculture Food and Drug Authority (PAFDA) would prove to be a milestone in providing high standard medicines and hygienic food items to the masses.
He stated this while chairing a high level meeting at Civil Secretariat in Lahore to review the matters regarding establishing Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority.
Additional Chief Secretary, Khawaja Shumail, Secretary Planning and Development, Director General Punjab Forensic Science Agency and officials of other departments were present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister said the government was committed to provide best edible items and pure life saving drugs to people and in this regard hefty allocations had been made in the provincial budget.
He said PAFDA would become functional during the current year, adding that for establishing Punjab Agriculture Food and Drug Authority some land had been identified near Thokar Niaz Baig.
Directing to make the Authority’s board more efficient and productive, the Chief Minister announced to chair its next meeting.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said five most advanced level drug testing laboratories would start working by June this year.
