RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Commander Resolute Support Mission (RSM) and US Forces in Afghanistan General John W. Nicholson on Monday appreciated successful Operations conducted by Pakistan Army.
During his visit to Miranshah Town of North Waziristan on Monday along with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, General John W. Nicholson acknowledged the requirement of bilateral border security coordination.
The Commander RSM and US Forces in Afghanistan was briefed by General officer Commanding on Operation Zarb-e-Azb and progress on the socio-economic activities including return of Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs).
The visitors were taken to Miranshah bazaar where they saw the development work being undertaken by Pakistan Army.
Earlier on arrival at Miranshah, Commander Peshawar Corps Lt General Nazir Ahmed received the visiting Generals.
Following reaching Pakistan today, General John W. Nicholson also held a meeting with the COAS in which the later appreciated role of erstwhile International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and presently RSM Force for peace and stability in Afghanistan.
The COAS acknowledged continuous support of RSM to enable Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) for enhancing the capacity and capability to independently tackle security challenges in Afghanistan.
General Bajwa emphasized requirement of Pak-Afghan bilateral border security mechanism for which RSM can play important role.
