ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday directed for immediate construction of Islamabad Metro Bus link from Peshawar Mor to New Islamabad Airport.

In a meeting held at the PM House in Islamabad on Tuesday also attended by Secretary Communications Division, the Chairman National Highway Authority (NHA) Shahid Ashraf Tarar briefed the prime minister regarding progress of ongoing road network projects in the Country.

The prime minister was informed that the project linking Islamabad Metro Bus Service from Peshawar Mor to New Islamabad Airport would cost around Rs 18 billion and would comprise of 14 bus stops along the route.

The new Metro Bus service would be inaugurated by the prime minister on August 14 this year along with the inauguration of New Islamabad Airport.

Nawaz Sharif said that Airport Link Metro Bus route would ease the traffic load towards the New Airport and save precious time for the commuters with ease of travel and comfort.

The prime minister directed that the Metro Bus Service to the New Islamabad Airport should have been state-of-the-art service and no compromise on the quality of work and service be made.

Moreover, the prime minister said that the road networks were essential to the overall socio-economic development of the country. He said that roads provided access to far flung areas of the country thereby creating huge economic potential for trade and commerce.
