Government of PakistanNawaz Sharif orders election preparation

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Early general elections across the Country are not ruled out as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has reportedly issued directives for ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) members to initiate preparation in this regard.

Sources said on Saturday the prime minister has given green signal to Cabinet members and PML-N Parliamentarians for starting preparation of general elections.

Sources said that the prime minister has asked the PML-N lawmakers and other members to be ready for elections as any verdict, in favor or against, may come from Supreme Court over Panamagate Case.

Sources said that the PML-N leadership will allot most of the party tickets to current National Assembly members.

The general elections are scheduled to be held in Pakistan any time within the 90 days after June 5 next year (2018). However, political analysts are of the view that the prime minister may announce an early elections anytime.

The Supreme Court will resume hearing of Panama Case on Monday and according to analysts, if the Court verdict comes against Sharif family which is not unlikely; then the PML-N will badly suffer in years to come.

However, the ruling party is confident that it will once again sweep the general elections over its five-year performance as load shedding would have become history by 2018 and a network of motorways would have spread, covering the whole Country.

In the meantime, according to latest survey of Internationals Republic Institute (IRI), Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is still the most popular leader in the Country while the Punjab government is the best performing province with 79 percent approval rating.
