LARKANA, Pakistan: The three-day International Conference on Mohenjodaro & Indus Valley Civilization is set to begin from February 9 to discuss new research on the Indus Valley Civilization, and the issues related to safeguarding the archaeological remains and preservation of the ruins.
The Conference will take place at Mohenjodaro till February 12, and organized by the National Fund for Mohenjodaro and the Sindh Culture Department.
Meanwhile in a meeting on Monday, the Sindh Secretary Culture Ghulam Akbar Leghari reviewed arrangements for the International Conference on Mohenjodaro & Indus Valley Civilization.
The meeting was attended by the Director Culture Sindh Manzoor Ahmed Kanasro, Additional Commissioner-I Larkana Sultan Ahmed Khoso, Assistant Commissioners of the District and officers of various departments.
The Secretary Culture informed the meeting that through the Conference, we want to highlight once again the Mohenjodaro at global level. He said that in order to organize the Conference in befitting manner, various arrangements were made i-e Transportation, Accommodation, Security etc.
The Secretary Culture told the meeting that the foreign experts and experts from all over the Country would start arriving Mohenjodaro from February 8 and would express their views on Mohenjodaro.
The Secretary also urged upon the Officials of Police that all out efforts should be made to ensure the security for the participants by beefing up the security measures for the event. He also directed Special Branch officers to install walk-through gates at the entry gates of Mohenjodaro for security.
Moreover, he directed SEPCO/WAPDA authorities to ensure smooth supply of power during the conference. He also directed the officials of Health department to set-up a camp at the Site of Mohenjodaro with provision of health facilities including ambulances, medical teams consisting male and female doctors, para-medical staff and medicines.
