RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The armies of Pakistan and Afghanistan established the first hotline communication on Tuesday to discuss issues related to the Pak-Afghan border, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
In a statement, the ISPR said that the hotline communication took place between the Pakistan army’s Chief of Staff Southern Command and the Commander Afghan National Army 205 Corps Lieutenant General Daud Shah Wafadar.
The ISPR said that during the communication, both sides discussed issues related to Pak-Afghan border.
Both the sides expressed satisfaction over the establishment of hotline communication and vowed to continue such interactions in future.
The movement of militants across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border has been a bone of contention between the two Countries as both blamed each other over their failure to prevent infiltration of militants across the border.
Earlier this year, Pakistan closed the border following a string of terrorist attack jolted the whole Country. However it was reopened after over a month as per directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as a goodwill gesture.
