PoliticsPTI govt to spend money recovered from corruption into education: Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has said that when they will come into power in the Centre, they will spend all the money recovered from corruption into education.

“It is a fight of life and death now, this fight for education,” Imran Khan said while addressing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Reforms Event in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Imran Khan paid tribute the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak for giving the emphasis to education that it needed and for resisting the pressure that came for funds.

“Only someone committed to education could have increased the budget, he said.

The PTI Chief said that when we came in the budget was 61 billion and today it is 139 billion. He said that we have one of the youngest populations in the world and it is a necessity for us to educate our children.

Imran Khan said that the way the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government selected teachers on merit, adding that 40,000 teachers were selected through the National Testing Service (NTS) system.

It was not done through the quota system and political appointments that previous governments had done; for the longest time they had to fight this political appointment mafia, Imran said.

“This quota system is ruining our Country,” Imran emphasized.

Imran said that we deliberately neglected education and divided it into three systems; the English medium system, the Urdu medium system, and the Madrasah system.

“Our education system needs to be relevant to our people; it needs to lift our people according to the culture of the system,” he remarked.

“English must be geared towards higher education and making us competitive in the rest of the world.”

The Chairman PTI further said that the emphasis on girls education is imperative. He said that Pakistan has one of the highest populations with female illiteracy.

Moreover, Imran said that through Zamung Kor in Peshawar, we are giving street children equal opportunities. He said that street children have been lifted off the streets and the potential we are already seeing in them in academics and sports is amazing.

“This is our challenge to lift marginalized children. This is our educational challenge that how to bring these children to Schools and then how to provide them with the best possible education,” Imran Khan said.
