ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has again categorially said that there are no corruption cases against the Sharif family and the case before the Joint Investment Team (JIT) belongs to their personal business.

While talking to media after his appearance before the JIT at the Federal Judicial Academy in Islamabad on Saturday in Panama Case, Shahbaz Sharif said that he has recorded his statement before the JIT with utmost respect.

Shahbaz Sharif said that his family has served the purpose of rule of law in the Country by appearing before the JIT formed by the Supreme Court to probe into the Panama Case. He said that unlike the military dictators, we, the elected representatives, respect the law and the Constitution.

The Chief Minister said that the elected prime minister wrote a new chapter on last Thursday in the Country’s history by appearing before the JIT, and today is another historic day when for the first time an elected provincial chief minister presented himself before the investigation team.

The Punjab Chief Minister said that it is not the first time that his family has been subjected to accountability but in eras of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and military dictatorship, it was subjected to accountability.

Moreover, he said that Sharif family greatly adores this motherland and they have not plundered any money. He said that we have returned all the loans of Ittefaq Foundries.

Earlier, Shahbaz Sharif appeared before the JIT and recorded his statement, becoming the fourth member of Sharif family to go through under interrogation by the JIT after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his both sons – Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz.

The Chief Minister accompanied by his son Hamza Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar arrived at the JIT Secretariat around which strict security arrangements had been put in place.
