Tamchy, Kyrgyzstan: Travelling for international tourists in Central Asia has become easier as summer flights have started between Tashkent Uzbekistan to Issyk-Kul International Airport Kyrgyzstan from July 4 (today).

First group of tourists from Tashkent arrived at the International Issyk-Kul Airport on Tuesday morning, reports Dispatch News Desk (DND) news agency.

Issyk-Kul Region is known for its scenic beauty, ecotourism and Lake Issyk-Kul (“warm lake”).

Karakol is capital city of region which is surrounded by Almaty Region (Kazakhstan) in north and Chinese autonomous region of Xinjiang in southeast. Lake Issyk-Kul is the second largest saline lake in the world, which never freezes despite its altitude in the Tian Shan mountain range and coldest weather in winter.

The Uzbek Airways has initiated flight from Tashkent to Issyk-Kul International Airport (Tamchy Airport) from July 4 to August 30.

Formerly known as Tamchy Airport, Issyk-Kul International Airport started its operations in 1975 as a reserve airport for the nearby Cholpon-Ata Airport. The current runway and terminal were built in 2003. In the same year, the Kyrgyz Government renamed Tamchy Airport to Issyk-Kul International Airport.

The Boeing 757-231 will perform flights on the route Tashkent — Tamchy — Tashkent offering two-way ticket in $340.

First summer flight carried international tourists along with representatives of state bodies of Uzbekistan including Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Anvar Nasyrov, as head of the delegation.

Komil Rashidov, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Kyrgyzstan and Ravshan Usmanov, the First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development accompanied Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
