ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid has said that Pakistan will actively participate in International Snow Leopard Conservation Summit to be held in August 2017 in Kyrgyz Republic.

While talking the ambassador of Kyrgyz Republic Erik Beishembiev who paid a courtesy call to him at Ministry of Climate Change in Islamabad on Friday, the minister said that both Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan will increase bilateral relations and make Snow Leopard Conservation Summit a successful event.

The minister informed the Kyrgyz ambassador that the actions are being taken in Pakistan for conservation of Snow Leopard. He said that the population of snow leopard is increasing due to these efforts.

The Inspector General Forest Nasir Mehmood told the ambassador that Trophy Hunting is playing a great role for conserving Markhor population in Pakistan due to financial benefits for local communities attached to trophy hunting.

Nasir Mehmood further informed that academia and from Quid-i-Azam University and IUCN are conducting research on different features of snow leopard including habitat, DNA, ecosystem.

The Kyrgyz ambassador emphasized the increasing the trade relations between both countries to get benefits of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The envoy highlighted that Kyrgyz Republic is part of “one belt one road” which has reduced distance and cost for trade between Pakistan and Kyrgyz Republic.

The Kyrgyz envoy further said that Kyrgyz Republic is home to many exports like dry fruits, meat which can source of increasing trade relations between both countries.
