ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday reserved its judgement in historic Panama Papers Case which would very much determine the future Course of Country’s politics.

“The judgement is reserved”, Justice Ijaz Ul Hassan said in his final remarks after the Counsels of all Parties completed their arguments before the Special Bench of the Supreme Court which also comprised Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed following a five-day hearing after the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) submitted its report before the Bench.

The Supreme Court’s Special Bench said that the decision would be announced at an appropriate time.

Earlier, the Counsel of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Children Salman Akram Raja, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s Counsel Tariq Hassan, Counsel of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Naeem Bukhari, Jamaat-e-Islami’s (JI) Counsel Taufiq Asif and Chief of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed submitted their concluding arguments before the Bench.

In its remarks, the Bench once again observed that the decision in Panama Papers Case would be announced in the light of law and the Constitution.

Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed remarked that we guarantee that we will keep the prime minister’s disqualification under consideration.

In his remarks, the head of the three-member Bench Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan said that what will happen if the public office bearer’s assets are not according to his income.

Justice Ejaz Afzal remarked that the public office holder (Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif) said in his speech at the National Assembly that these are the sources through which flats were purchased. He said that after that the prime minister gave some doubtful documents to the Speaker.

“We have been waiting for those documents since one year,” he said.

Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan further remarked that he (the prime minister) is answerable due to his designation. He said that the prime minister in his address had said that he had all the evidences of Children business.

Volume 10 of JIT report opened

Earlier, the Bench also opened Volume 10 of the JIT’s report, and provided its copy to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Counsel Khawaja Harris.

While the acting Prosecutor National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Akbar Tarar told that Supreme Court bench that we are going to file an appeal to reopen Hudabiya Paper Mills Case.

Chairman SECP Zafar Hijazi arrested

Meanwhile, the Chairman Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Zafar Hijazi was arrested in Record Tempering Case.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) took the Chairman SECP into custody after his bail was rejected.

The Case against Zafar Hijazi was registered on Supreme Court’s orders after the Bench had examined a report prepared by the JIT which had in its report alleged that the Chairman SECP had altered records related to Chaudhry Sugar Mills.
