ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Two journalists were allegedly bullied and tortured by policemen at Kashmir House Islamabad after they uncovered the objectionable activities within the building premises.
The Journalist Babar Anwar Abbasi and the reporter Hafiz Haseeb were allegedly tortured and kept under undue sequestration for hours at Kashmir House on Friday, a day after they reported with video evidences the presence of wine bottles and other objectionable items behind the Multi-purpose Hall of Kashmir House.
The two Journalists had also alleged that all objectionable activities at Kashmir House were being carried out under the aegis of Ministers, Politicians and Bureaucrats, according to the Daily Muballigh.
The Daily reported that following the revelation of wine parties at Kashmir House by Journalist Babar Anwar Abbasi, all the objectionable stuff was removed and both the journalist was viciously tortured by plain-clothed policemen. In addition, a false report was filed at the related Police Station, and the journalist was handed over to police.
However, Journalist Babar Anwar Abbasi was later released after human rights and journalist organizations particularly Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) took notice of the incident, and intervened. They also demanded strict action against such bullies.
Citing sources, the Daily also reported that relatives or accomplices of Ministers and Members of National Assembly are provided rooms at Kashmir House by the administration on fixed prices, in which alcoholic along with charas is served.
The Daily reported that multiple attempts were made via phone calls and SMS to get response of Incharge State Officer of Kashmir House, but he didn’t answer.
