ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Unhygienic and contaminated water is being supplied to the people in Bhara Kahu, which has increased the risk of spreading various infectious diseases like Hepatitis B and C.

As per details, the people living in Jilani, which falls under Union Council-5 (UC-5) and whose Chairman is Raja Wahid Kiyani, are receiving dirty and injurious-to-health water.

The tank, from where the water is being supplied to the people, is not covered to ensure the safety and purity of water, said a report published on Daily Nai Baat.

The daily further reported that the filthy Korang water, flowing down mountains of Shahdara, is passing close to the water tank. But when it rains, dirty Korang water enters the tank, increasing the risk of spreading Hepatitis B and C and other infectious diseases in the area.

While talking on the issue, the people of Jilani said that Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and UC-5 Chairman Raja Wahid Kiyani had assured the people of Jilani that they would be provided water from Simli Dam. However, they added, nothing had yet been done to act upon the assurances.

The people said that they were still bound to drink water which was unhygienic and filthy.

They appealed to the CADD Minister and UC-5 Chairman to ensure provision of Simli Dam water to them.
