ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission says it will soon hold a meeting with the provincial governments to finalize a security plan.
In a panel interview with APP in Islamabad‚ Secretary Election Commission‚ Ishtiaq Ahmed said free and fair elections would be held as per schedule and security situation would not be allowed to create any hurdle in polls.
He said army‚ rangers and local police have already been assigned to provide security to political leadership in troubled areas.
Ishtiaq Ahmed said it is good omen that fourteen political parties of Balochistan and all political parties of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are participating in the democratic process.
To a question‚ Secretary Election Commission said 500 ECP teams have been deployed across the country to monitor election campaign of candidates with the help of video cameras.
He said the teams will detect any violation of code of conduct by the candidates.
To another question‚ Ishtiaq Ahmed said printing of ballot papers would begin soon and army has already been deployed at the printing press.
He said conducting scrutiny of over 24‚000 candidates in seven days is great achievement of the Commission.
