ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan on Tuesday strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted the police training academy in the Gardez City, the Capital of Afghanistan’s eastern Paktia Province.

Earlier in the day, a suicide car bomber and gunmen attacked a Police Training Centre in Gardez City, killing at least 32 policemen and injuring over 200 others.

“We are deeply saddened and grieved at the loss of precious lives in the dastardly attack,” the Foreign Office said in a press release issued in Islamabad.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones in this brutal terrorist attack and to the government and the people of Afghanistan,” it said. “We also pray for the speedy recovery of the wounded.”

The Foreign Office further said that Pakistan reiterates its unequivocal condemnation of terrorism in all forms and manifestations, and reaffirms its commitment for continued efforts and cooperation for eliminating this menace.

While claiming the responsibility for the attack on Police Training Centre in Gardez, the Taliban Spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said that the attack was part of its Mansoori operation.
