KARACHI, Pakistan: The Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani on Saturday stressed the need that the next general elections in the Country be held on time.
While speaking at a seminar held at the National Institute of Management (NIM), the Senate Chairman pointed out that in his 14 points Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had also laid emphasis on provincial autonomy .
Rabbani was of the view that the Constitution reigns supreme and that all the institutions should work under the purview of their constitutional obligations.
The Senate Chairman said that there was no provision for any technocrat government. He said that the peoples’ mandate should be respected and the transfer of power should be in accordance with the opinion expressed by the masses in the polls.
Mian Raza Rabbani said that the 18th Constitutional amendment was a barrier against any unconstitutional setup in the Country.
Rabbani also spoke of the successes achieved by Pakistan in the war against terror and lauded the contributions of the law enforcement agencies in this regard. He also called for the National Finance Commission (NFC) award for the provinces.
