It seems that much-awaited Pakistani movie “Verna” might have embraced some issues just prior to its scheduled release on November 17 with regard to its content

Produced and directed by Shoaib Mansoor, “Verna” featuring renewed actress Mahira Khan and Haroon Shahid as in lead roles has already grabbed the limelight and people are eagerly waiting to watch the movie as it goes on theatre later this week under the banner of Hum Films.Mahira Khan’s Verna awaits its fate

However, as per reports, the Sindh Board of Film Censors (SBFC) has voiced some reservations, saying that the movie contains objectionable content

“The topic is rape, and the culprit is the governor’s son. The film doesn’t have to be banned, and can be tweaked and censored a bit to be deemed fit for release,” The Express Tribune quoted the SBFC General Secretary Abdul Razzaq Khuhawar as saying.

The SBFC secretary general said that the movie hasn’t yet been issued censor certificate as the board is waiting for the Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) to opine about it and deliver its verdict accordingly.

Meanwhile, the CBFC has not yet viewed “Verna”, and one hopes that the Central Board will review it today (Tuesday).

“Nothing has been decided and the film is not banned so far. We will view it and come to a final decision soon,” the CBFC Chairman Mubashir Hasan said according to The Express Tribune.

“Verna” is Shoaib Mansoor’s third movie as director as earlier he directed “Khuda Ke Liye” and “Bol”.

Whereas the 32-year-old Mahira Khan was also part of “Bol” which was her debut film. The actress also featured in Bollywood movie “Raees” in which she played a character of Shah Rukh Khan’s wife.
