SUKKUR, Pakistan: The Opposition leader in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Monday asked the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led federal government to relinquish power if it was unable to call off the religious parties’ sit-in at Faizabad in Islamabad.

Talking to media in Sukkur, Khursheed Shah said the sit-in was the indication of weak government and the end of federal government’s writ.

Meanwhile, the sit-in at Faizabad Interchange by Tehreek-i-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah and Sunni Tehreek has entered into 15th day today.

Commuters continue to endure the difficulties while travelling as the Main Murree road which enters the Federal Capital from Rawalpindi City has been blocked since 15 days while the Islamabad-Rawalpindi Metro Bus Services also remains shut down.

In the meantime, the negotiations between the federal government and the sit-in leaders have not so far yielded any positive results. The protesters have turned down all the offers extended by the government, including sending the Law Minister Zahid Hamid on leave, to end their sit-in.

The sit-in protesters have not shown any leniency yet in their demands; therefore, the Inter Minister Ahsan Iqbal has called a meeting of Ulema belonging to all Schools of Thought in Islamabad today to deliberate on ways to deal with the situation.

While talking to media, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Khursheed Shah further said the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should have adopted the Constitutional way as the PML-N leader grumbled about being denied justice.

In reply to a question, Khursheed Shah said Nawaz Sharif himself permitted Pervaiz Musharraf to go abroad.
