RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: A modern Railway Reservation Office was inaugurated on Thursday at Rawalpindi Railway Station by the Chairperson Ministry of Railways Parveen Agha.
Talking to media persons, Parveen Agha said the railway reservation office has been fully renovated and upgraded to provide better facilities to nearly 4000 passengers who daily use rail service from Rawalpindi Railway Station to reach their destinations in other cities of the Country.
The passengers purchase tickets amounting to Rs3.5 million daily on an average from the main reservation office, she said adding that the upgraded reservation office has also been made centrally air-conditioned. The facility has been upgraded to facilitate the rail passengers in purchasing tickets easily.
The Chairperson Ministry of Railways said that latest digital monitors, laptops and electronic boards have been installed at the office.
Parveen Agha said that the government was giving special attention towards the facilities being provided to the rail passengers, including modern railways reservation offices.
While appreciating efforts being made by Divisional Superintendent, Rawalpindi Abdul Malik for up-gradation and renovation of the Rawalpindi Railway Station she said, nearly 3000 citizens daily visit the Reservation Office which was not in good condition but now, it has been fully renovated. The project has been completed within record period of time.
Parveen Agha said that the Railways was also trying to upgrade other reservation offices. She said that Pakistan Railways was making all out efforts to provide modern facilities to the rail passengers.
To a question, Parveen Agha said that Pakistan Railways revenue had increased considerably as in 2013-14, the revenue was Rs 18 billion which had been increased gradually. Last year, it remained Rs 40 billion plus while a target of Rs48 billion was set for the current financial year.
