Initial planning of the second phase of Signal Free Corridor from Koral Chowk to Rawat has also been completed and tender for the construction work would be called during the next month, he added.
Management of Capital Development Authority (CDA) is taking consolidated steps for timely completion of this project. The expression given in different newspapers regarding shelving this project is baseless; having no grounds and against the facts and figures as this project is among our top priorities. Survey from Koral Chowk to Rawat Interchange has been completed and estimates in this regard are being prepared while tender for the work would be called by next month.
CDA Management is committed to complete this project at fast pace and main objective behind carrying out construction work in different phases is to ensure smooth traffic flow on the expressway. Construction of four (04) lane road from Koral Interchange to Naval Encourage and construction of Service Road West is also part of Islamabad Signal Free Expressway while construction of old bridges from Koral to Rawat would be also carried out under this project. Technical and Financial bids are being sought from reputable construction firms and companies.
Recent sit-ins at Faizabad impeded the pace of work on the project, however, Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA Sheikh Anser Aziz has directed the contractor to depute the staff in three different shifts so that Sohan Interchange could be partially opened by the next month.
