ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan on Friday strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Mosalla-e-Mazar area of Kabul which resulted in deaths of at least seven persons.

Earlier in the day, a suicide bomber blew himself up when he was stopped at a Security Checkpoint in Mosalla-e Mazar area in Kabul, killing at least seven persons including one policeman and injuring 15 other civilians.

“We are grieved at the loss of precious lives in the brutal attack of terrorism,” said a statement issued by the Foreign Office in Islamabad.

“We express our deepest sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”

The statement said that Pakistan reiterates its unequivocal condemnation of terrorism in all forms and manifestations and expresses solidarity with the government and people of Afghanistan in their fight against the menace of terrorism.

“We believe concerted efforts by states, and close cooperation among them, are needed for eliminating the scourge of terrorism,” it added.

The blast occurred when a crowd had gathered in Mosalla-e Mazar area for the anniversary celebrations of the death of Abdul Ali Mazari, a Hazara political leader killed by the Taliban in 1995.
