ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain has underscored that bilateral trade between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia is below its true potential which needs to be increased.

Talking to the Deputy Minister of Education of Saudi Arabia Hamad Nasser A AlMehrej who along with a delegation called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Tuesday, the president said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are linked through deep historic, religious and cultural relations which are difficult to emulate. He said that these relations will further grow in the future.

The president emphasized that exchange of high level delegations will further strengthen the relations between two Countries especially it will enhance cooperation in the field of education. He expressed hope that Saudi businessmen and investors will benefit from the investment, business and trade opportunities in Pakistan.

President Mamnoon said that International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has shown remarkable performance in the education sector and Saudi Arab’s cooperation in this regard is very valuable. He underlined that a campus of this university should be established in any city of Saudi Arabia to provide better education facilities to the Pakistanis residing in Saudi Arabia.

On the occasion, the Deputy Minister for Education of Saudi Arabia Hamad Nasser A AlMehrej said that Saudi Arabia will continue to play its role in the promotion of education in Pakistan.

The Saudi deputy minister apprised the president that Saudi Arabia has increased the number of scholarship for Pakistani students to 580.

The members of the Saudi delegation included Mr. Nawaf bin Said Al Maliky, Ambassador of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Abdulaziz Abdullah A Alfaleh, Member, Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Mr. Mohammed Saad Al Hakbani, Member, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Ibrahim Saleh I AlHodaithi, Member, Interior Ministry, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed A AlMagsoudi, Member, Institute of Public Administration, Mr. Fahad Ibrahim A AlSuqayhi, Secretary to Deputy Minister of Education, Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector International Islamic University and Prof. Dr. Yousif Al Dariweesh, President IIUI were also present on the occasion.
