Social media continues to prove its worth as after recently launched Boycott Murree Campaign over mistreatment of tourists by native people, another drive has kicked off against Chicken vendors.
Under the Boycott Campaign launched on social media, the people have been asked not to purchase or eat Chicken at functions, offices or at homes for three days from May 17 to 19 to normalize its daily rising prices.
It was learnt that on the eve Ramazan, the prices of Chicken soared to Rs 315 per kilogram while as per reports, vendors plan to further increase the price of Chicken.
The people are being persuaded via social media that they must avoid purchasing poultry items during the prescribed period. The aim behind the Chicken Boycott is to pressurize the vendors to normalize the prices.
Through social media, it’s being propagated that the people must confine themselves to eat vegetables and lentils only from May 17 to 19 as it would help end the high-handedness of Chicken vendors and drop the prices.
It is pertinent to mention here that in September last year as well, a campaign was launched on social media to boycott tomato after its price was hiked significantly.
