RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Indian troops martyred four Pakistani civilians including three women and a child when they initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary on Friday morning.
In two separate statements, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) and the Foreign Office said that the Indian troops were targeting civil population in Pukhlian, Cahprar, Harpal, Charwah and Shakargarh Sectors.
The Foreign Office said that four innocent members of the family of Noor Hussain including his wife Kulsoom, two daughters Mehwish and Safia, and his son Hamza were martyred as a result of Indian firing. In addition, 10 civilians were also injured in the firing incident.
While the ISPR said that Pakistan Rangers Punjab were effectively responding and targeting those Indian posts which initiated fire.
“Intermittent fire continues,” the ISPR added.
Meanwhile, the Acting Foreign Secretary summoned the Indian High Commissioner today and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces along the LoC and the Working Boundary.
The Foreign Office said that the Indian forces along the LoC and the Working boundary are continuously targeting civilian populated areas with heavy weapons.
In 2018, the Indian forces have carried out more than 1050 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary, resulting in the shahadat of 28 innocent civilians, while injuring 117 others. This unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India is continuing from the year 2017, when the Indian forces committed 1970 ceasefire violations.
The deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights and humanitarian laws. The ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation.
The Acting Foreign Secretary urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefire arrangement; investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violations; instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary. He urged that the Indian side should permit UNMOGIP to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.
