Islamabad, Pakistan:  World Refugee Day was observed in Pakistan which is housing over 3.5 million Afghan refugees since 1979.

Pakistan government wishes to resolve the issue of Afghan refugees and send them back to their homes in Afghanistan but has always failed to take practical steps and Afghan refugees are still living in Pakistan although government of Pakistan sat several dates to send them back but always withdrew from such dates due to alleged pressure from United States.

Along with the plight of refugees and migrants, millions of internally displaced men, women and children are made extremely vulnerable by conflicts all over the world and United Nations helps such vulnerable people to place them in secure places but such refugees go back when conflict ends in their country. However, United Nations locks not in mood to send Afghan refugees back to their homes.

Civil and Military leaderships of Pakistan have expressed their concerns that Afghan refugees are directly or indirectly involved in terrorism that caused death of over 70,000 people in Pakistan during the last six years. However, Pakistan has a state has failed to send Afghan refugees back to their homes and always sets new dates to send them back but then always withdraw decision and Afghan refugees remain in Pakistan.
