ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) Dr Suleman Khan while briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Interior on Thursday said 65 security alerts had been received so far and they were issued to all political parties.

While briefing the Committee with met in Islamabad with Senator Rehman Malik in the Chair, Dr Suleman Khan said there was a threat to Chiefs of all political parties. He said there were threats from banned organizations including Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA).

The NACTA National Coordinator said a threat was also received from Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM London).

Dr Suleman Khan said NACTA shared reports of intelligence agencies with provinces. He said some militant groups were active against the election process.

Moreover, he told the Senate Committee that there were no reports of attacks on Haroon Bashir Bilour and Siraj Raisani.

The Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Babar Yaqoob also briefed the Senate Standing Committee on Interior about elections 2018 preparations.

The Secretary ECP said there would be 85,307 polling stations across the Country, and all of them would be available on google map.

Babar Yaqoob said over 20,000 polling stations had been declared sensitive, and CCTV cameras would be installed inside and outside of all the sensitive polling stations. He said 450,000 police and 300,000 army troops would be deployed on the polling day while as many as 750,000 polling staff would perform their duties.
