ISLAMABAD: US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson on Thursday called on Caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso to discuss various issues of national importance.

Olson briefed the prime minister about recent trilateral meeting between US, Pakistan and Afghanistan in Brussels which was attended by US Secretary of State John Kerry, COAS Ashfaq Pervez Kayani and Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

Olson said that Pakistan and the USA have traditional and historic relations and that both the countries are working to expand the scope of cooperation between the two countries.

He said that the US is funding several energy projects besides Diamer-Basha Dam that would add up to 1,000 megawatts in the national grid after completion.

Olson also appreciated efforts being made by the interim government to hold free and fair elections in the country.

Interim PM Khoso said that his government all efforts to hold transparent elections, adding the government is also providing every possible assistance to the Election Commission of Pakistan in this regard.

Khoso said that the government is also taking measures to resolve current energy crisis.
