PESHAWAR: A blast near an Awami National Party (ANP) election rally in the Rafiqabad area left two dead and five others injured here on Sunday. The Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.
People were coming back from a corner meeting of Amir Rehman when they were targeted. District Police Officer Dr Mian Muhammad Saeed confirmed that the ANP candidate’s convoy was targeted with a roadside bomb but he remained safe.
Two persons including one child died while seven people were injured in the blast, according to hospital sources. The injured were brought to the Ceena Hospital.The DPO said that they have reports that five people including a policeman had been injured.
He also confirmed that the remote-controlled device exploded near the Rehman’s vehicle. Amir Rehman had won the 2002 elections form Swabi on a ANP ticket and is contesting again form PK32 Swabi-2. ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan condemned the attack and said the party would not be deterred by terrorist activity.
