ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry has said that the inflation increased by 6.5 percent in the first six months of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government whilst it grew by only 1.8 percent in the first six months of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

Briefing the media after the Federal Cabinet meeting in Islamabad on Thursday, Fawad Chaudhry said that the prices of vegetables, lentils, petrol and high speed diesel have decreased while cement, diesel, electricity and transport fares have witnessed a rise.

The minister also told that the Federal Cabinet has decided to constitute a committee headed by the Defence Minister Pervez Khattak to develop a proper system for stabilization of prices of essential commodities.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that a mobile application will also be developed which will provide an opportunity to the consumers to check the prices of essential commodities in the Country.

The information minister said that the Federal Cabinet has also decided to carry out external audit of the gas bills of last two months.

Fawad Chaudhry said that the Cabinet has also decided to revise the slab system for gas prices. He pointed out that we are importing an expensive gas and providing it to the consumers on subsidized rates. He said that we raised the gas prices keeping in view that it does not affect 70 percent population of the Country.
