LAHORE, Pakistan: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday granted bail to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Opposition leader in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif in Ashiana Housing Sceme and Ramzan Sugar Mills Cases.
The bail was granted by a two-member bench of the LHC led by Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmed in Lahore.
The LHC issued orders to release Shahbaz Sharif, and also asked the Opposition Leader to submit two surety bonds worth Rs 10,000,00 each.
The High Court also granted bail to the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Principal Secretary Fawad Hassan Fawad in Ashiana Housing Scheme Case. However, his bail plea in assets beyond means case was rejected.
Shahbaz Sharif was taken into custody by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on October 5 last from Lahore for his alleged invovlement in billions of rupees corruption in Ashiana Housing Scheme.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the truth has once again won. He said that they appeared before courts and would continue to do so. He said that if any corruption charges against him are proved, he would quit politics for ever.
The PML-N president expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah over the surfacing of truth.
Commenting on Shabazz Sharif’s bail, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Syed Khursheed Shah welcomed the development, and said that now they will do politics with an independent mind-set in a free environment
Khursheed Shah said that the opposition will chalk out a joint strategy over national issues.
