ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has appreciated Pakistan’s overtures and stressed upon the need to preserve peace and stability in South Asia.
Talking to his Pakistani Counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi who made a call to him and discuss the evolving regional situation, the German foreign minister expressed satisfaction at the current level of bilateral relations and agreed to translate the existing friendship and mutual goodwill into a strong political and economic partnership.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi briefed his German Counterpart on the evolving situation in South Asia after the Pulwama incident and stressed that despite baseless allegations and aggressive rhetoric emanating from India, Pakistan has offered cooperation in investigating the incident and asked India to share any actionable evidence in this regard.
“Pakistan desires a peaceful neighborhood and remains committed to peace and stability in the region,” Qureshi said according to a press release issued by the Foreign Office in Islamabad.
The foreign minister also highlighted the human rights violations by the security forces in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) against Kashmiris in the aftermath of the Pulwama incident.
The two foreign ministers agreed to continue consultations on matters of mutual importance.
