JALALABAD, Kyrgyzstan: Pakistan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Kyrgyzstan Faisal Niaz Tirmizi called on the Deputy Governor of Jalalabad Mamasaly Akmatov Takabaevich and the City Mayor Tagaev Murataly.
Jalalabad is the third largest city of the Kyrgyz Republic with a population of 150,000 and the biggest contributor to Kyrgyzstan with 23 percent of national GDP comes from this province.
On suggestion from the Deputy Governor and Mayor, the Ambassador proposed Peshawar and Jalalabad as sister city of Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The Mayor invited Pakistani businessmen to invest in the local tourist industry by building hotels in Jalalabad. He also invited Pakistani businessmen to set up food processing plant in the city.
The Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi also called on the Rector Jalalabad State Medical University Kenesh Usenov, wherein 64 Pakistani students are studying.
The University provides education to over 6,400, out of which 2,300 are foreigners.
The Deputy Governor, Mayor and Rector sought Pakistan Embassy in Kyrgyzstan’s help for more Pakistani students to get education in their universities at cheaper rate than Bishkek.
