Monitoring Desk: Local non-government organisations (NGOs) operating in Kyrgyzstan will receive $ 2.5 million from United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for monitoring electoral process during 2020 parliamentary elections.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is going to send $ 2.5 million to support the parliamentary elections to be held in Kyrgyzstan in 2020. Within the framework of the grant, it is planned to allocate money to local organizations that will be engaged in monitoring the electoral process.

According to the document, special attention from observers should be given to the moments that it is difficult for voters to assess independently. These include election coverage in the media and the impact of social networks on the electoral process.

In USAID, the presentation of these data will give citizens of the country an opportunity to take part in elections more confidently.

The description of the grant also notes that after the voting is completed, the contractors will continue to help build trust between the population of the country and the parliament.

It is assumed that the grant recipients will transmit information about the work of the deputies to the citizens and monitor their fulfillment of election promises.
