Islamabad, Pakistan The Embassy of Federation of Russia in Islamabad observed “Day of Russia” here on Wednesday (June 12, 2019).
Newly appointed Russian Ambassador Danila V. Ganich (Ганичу Даниле Викторовичу ) hosted a reception which was attended by top civil and military personalities, senior bureaucrats, senior journalists and intellectuals of capital city of Islamabad.
Federal Minister for Power Omar Ayub Khan was guest of honour while Muhammad Arsallah Khan Honorary Consul Russian Federation in Peshwar and Honorary Consul General of Russian Federation in Lahore Habib Rafiq were also present.
This was first Day of Russia hosted by new Ambassador Danila Ganich who was appointed Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan by the Executive Order of the President of Russia № 156 on April 11, 2019.
After the disintegration of former Soviet Union, the Federation of Russia went through several phases linked with the adoption of the new Russian Constitution, the national flag, anthem, and emblem of the Russian Federation.
June 12th marks the 1990 declaration that signaled the birth of the independent Russian Federation and official dissolution of the Soviet Union on the same day a year later. Declared an official national holiday in 1994, the “Day of Signing the Declaration of State Sovereignty” commemorates the birth of a new Russia and the creation of the post of President, the adoption of the red, white, and blue national flag, and the new national anthem. The holiday was renamed Russia Day in 2002.
