LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday summoned Pakistan’s Attorney General Irfan Qadir after Friday prayers and sought the notification issued by the federal government pertaining to the formation of a parliamentary commission on creation of new province in Punjab, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.
The counsel of the petitioner argued that the commission formed by the government had no legal or constitutional status and that the constitution could not be amended by implementing its recommendations.
LHC judge Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan asked whether this commission was named by the National Assembly Speaker or the President of Pakistan.
