Monitoring Desk: Pakistani Prime Minister Khan who is in New York for participation in the 74th session of the UN General Assembly spent a busy day and had important meetings.

According to state run news agency of Pakistan APP, Prime Minister Khan met Senator Graham who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee and is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

During his meeting, Prime Minister Khan expressed his grave concern over the deteriorating situation in Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Khan said that lockdown in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK) had created a humanitarian crisis and posed a threat for regional stability.  Khan believed that United States could play a positive role in resolving the Kashmir dispute, which was the main obstacle to lasting peace in South Asia.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also met a delegation led by Kashmiri Leadership from both sides of the Line of Control.

The delegation of Kashmiri leaders from both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) led by Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai called on the Prime Minister, said APP News Agency.

The Prime Minister shared his serious concerns over the continuing lockdown since 5 August and the dire human rights and humanitarian situation resulting from it. He called for the immediate lifting of the curfew and other restrictions, respect for the rights and freedom of the Kashmiri people, and resolving the Kashmir dispute according to their wishes and the UN Security Council resolutions.

The Prime Minister stated that he will continue to highlight the Kashmir issue at every forum and will fulfill his promise of being the “Ambassador of Kashmir”.
