ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday accorded his consent to act upon all demands put forward by the Joint Opposition, which are within the ambit of the law and the Constitution.

The approval was accorded in a meeting of the government’s negotiation committee which met at the PM Office in Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The meeting was attended by besides the Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, the Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, the Defence Minister and the Head of the Negotiation Committee Pervaiz Khattak, Pervaiz Elahi, Noor Ul Haq Qadri, Asad Umar and Shafqat Mehmood.

In the meeting, the Committee apprised the prime minister about the negotiations held with the Opposition’s rahbar committee and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Monday.

After reviewing the situation, the prime minister gave full authority to the Negotiating Committee, and said that whatever decisions they make, will have his consent.

Sources said that Imran Khan said that the Opposition’s demands related to the legislation and Parliament would be fulfilled but their desire for the prime minister’s resignation won’t be honoured as it doesn’t fall under the ambit of the law.

Besides, the prime minister expressed gratitude to Chaudhry brothers for their role in negotiations with the opposition.
