LAHORE, Pakistan: The Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar on Monday said arrangements were being made for the “Village Panchayat and Neighbourhood Councils” elections across the province to be held in March next year on a non-party basis.

The Chief Minister said that the local government elections at town, tehsil and metropolitan levels will be held in the second phase on a party basis.

Earlier on November 14, the Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar presided over a meeting in Lahore which reviewed preparations regarding elections for Village Panchayat & Neighbourhood Councils and Local Bodies, and directed to complete electoral rolls by the first week of December.

Usman Buzdar said that a total of 455 local governments will be established in the province.

“Punjab government has given approval to amendments in Punjab Local Government Act 2019 regarding grant of voting right to minorities on general seats along with reserve seats,” he said.
