ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: When the adventure went wrong: 22 Students of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) were rescued by Pakistan Army from snow-hit Rattu area of Gilgit-Baltistan.
As many as 22 students had gone for Skiing to Gilgit in extreme weather and were stuck for last five days due to heavy snow and landslides.
The LUMS administration had approached Pakistan Army for help, upon which the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa directed for their immediate helicopter lifting.
All students including 13 boys and 9 girls have reached Rawalpindi and on the way to their homes.

The Country’s northern mountainous region of Gilgit-Baltistan along with upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Jammu and Kashmir has been receiving heavy snowfall for last couple of weeks.
While as per the Pakistan Metrological Department, rain and more snowfall is expected at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday night and Tuesday.
Throughout the year especially in winter, thousands of tourists throng to Gilgit-Baltistan and adjoining Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir region to enjoy the naturally beauty and snowfall.
According to an Official of Tourism Corporation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the tendency in increase of tourist inflow is continuing as only Galiyat hosted over 53,000 travel enthusiasts during the first 10 days of New Year 2020.
