KARTARPUR, Pakistan: The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres paid a visit to the Holy Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib on Tuesday, wherein he was briefed about the steps taken by the government for facilities being provided to the Sikh Community.

The UN Chief was told that the purpose of opening the Kartarpur Corridor is to provide easy access to the Sikh Community across the border and it’s a practical proof of interfaith harmony being ensured by Pakistan.

Earlier, the UN secretary-general also visited various sections of the Kartarpur Complex.

The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also visited the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) today.

While speaking at a dialogue at LUMS, the UN Chief underlined the need to equip the new generation with modern technologies besides bringing changes in curriculum. He said that the youth will have an important role in the world body in the 21st century.

The UN Chief said that we will also have to take a decision in the context of climate change as the increasing pollution is the biggest issue. He also emphasized on the dialogue between institutions.

Besides Antonio Guterres also visited a school in Lahore and administered the polio vaccine drops to kids.

In his remarks on the occasion, he said that we will have to make joint efforts to eradicate polio disease. He also expressed satisfaction that Pakistan is working effectively to eradicate polio from the Country.

The UN Chief said that Pakistan is a safe Country now as compared to the past.
