ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As many as 16 individuals living in the area around Taramri Chowk in Islamabad have been diagnosed with the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19); therefore, the district administration has imposed intensive restrictions on the movement of the people in the area.

The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat has said that the area around Taramari Chowk is being sealed after the emergence of 16 Coronavirus Cases.

The notification in this regard has been issued.

Hamza Shafqaat said that individuals residing in the Main Street and Street C-2, Lane-C, Irfanabad, Taramri Chowk were infected with the Coronavirus. He said that they took samples of 16 local people for testing, and all of them were found to be positive.

The Deputy Commissioner said that directives to ensure the social distancing have extensively been violated in the area, which is causing the outburst of the Coronavirus.

Prior to it, Bhara Kahu area of Islamabad had recorded the maximum number of Coronavirus Cases transmitted by a Tableeghi Jamaat; therefore, the area along with Shahzad Town and Rimsha Colony H-9 was sealed.

However today both Bhara Kahu and Shahzad Town were de-sealed while Rimsha Colony H-9 had already been removed from restrictions since April 1.

Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat said that now Taramari Chowk area has become a new epicenter of COVID-19 in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

The Deputy Commissioner said that Islamabad Police, Rangers, and Pakistan Army have been asked to cordon off the Taramari Chowk area to ensure the public safety.
