Renowned religious Shia scholar Allama Dr. Zameer Akhtar Naqvi has passed away due to a heart attack earlier today. He was 76 years old. According to reports, he was taken to Aga Khan University Hospital late Saturday night where he passed away.
Naqvi was a well-learned man with knowledge in subjects like religion, philosophy, Islamic history, science, literature, culture, and journalism. He was born and raised in Lucknow. Dr, Naqvi completed his graduation and then moved to Pakistan in 1967. He later acquired his Ph.D. from the University of Karachi.
Allama was a public speaker who became a target of social media mockery due to the content of his sermons and zealous speech style. The scholar earlier this year had addressed this issue as well. He had shared that he doesn’t mind being the subject of these memes as long as people listen to what he has to say and do not insult him.
Dr. Naqvi was the editor of Al Kalam magazine and also headed the Anees Academy. He is said to have authored around 300 books on various subjects. His funeral prayers were held at Imambargah Shuhada-e-Karbala in the Federal B area after Magrib.
Many renowned personalities and patrons alike are extending their condolences and respect.
The Sindh Governor Imran Ismail expressed his condolences upon Naqvi’s “May God grant patience to his bereaved family.”

Most of you know #AllamaZameerAkhtarNaqvi through the memes but since the people in Pakistan do not like reading, the lesser-known fact about him is that he authored over 300 books and was an ocean of knowledge. May Allah SWT bless him with the highest rank. pic.twitter.com/uJaAUw6UJt

One notable thing among these is the regret that an esteemed man was subject to such mockery and now after his passing, many are praising him.
Everyone on internet made fun of #AllamaZameerAkhtarNaqvi when he was alive. The same internet is mourning his death today. Why we value people only after they are dead?#AllamaZameerAkhtarNaqvi

Some sadly are still making fun of him in spite of his passing
#AllamaZameerAkhtarNaqvi died and people have stoop to such low level that they are making fun of his death. These illiterate people have made 'being from another sect' a crime. And then they wonder, why every other day brings a new torture. pic.twitter.com/YbZUNHVrcO
