ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday visited the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad wherein he was given a detailed briefing about Pakistan Navy’s initiatives for the development of the Maritime Sector.
In his remarks during the visit, the prime minister commended the efforts of the Pakistan Navy for the defense of the Country’s sea frontiers and the provision of security to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project including Gwadar Port.

The prime minister assured to continue to provide all possible cooperation to the naval force. He said that given its importance for economic development, the government is trying to promote the Maritime Sector.
Imran Khan said that declaring 2020 as the year of blue economy manifests the government’s emphasis to the maritime economy.
On the occasion, the Naval Chief Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi said that Pakistan Navy is fully prepared to protect the maritime interests and sea frontiers of the Country.
Earlier upon his arrival at the Naval Headquarters, the prime minister was given a guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Navy.
The prime minister laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Monument and Principal Staff Officers were introduced to him.
The Federal Minister for Defence Pervez Khattak, the Federal Minister for Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, the Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi, and the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on National Security Dr. Moeed Yusuf were also present on the occasion.
