ISLAMABAD: The federal ministry of finance on Tuesday released Rs15 billion to the ministry of water and power with an aim to ease severe crisis of power outages in the country.

The amount has been released on instructions of the caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso.

Sources said that the amount will be utilized to buy furnace oil for thermal power plants.

Meanwhile, Zahid Khan, Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Water and Power, said that the committee has summoned officials of the water and power ministry and WAPDA.

He said that the committee would recommend action against those who are responsible for current severe load-shedding across the country.
